Campervan Hire

Campervan HireCampervan hire holidays are a really fun way to spend time as a couple, a family or just a group of friends. But to get the most out of your campervan hire holiday we have a few suggestions for you. Motorholme, who are have the UK’s largest network of campervans available for hire, have made more that 7000 campervan hires. So here is some of their campervan holiday tips that we hope you will like.

Plan your trip. It’s amazing, but some people turn up to hire a campervan, then think about where they want to go! That’s completely the wrong way round. You have to plan a campervan holiday in order to get the best out of it. To visit the entire British Isles, Scotland and Wales in a week or less is totally impractical - all you’ll see is lots of motorways and not much scenery. Better to limit your trip to a few key places that you really want to visit and enjoy the journey.

Booking your first two nights on a campsite or campsites will give you a bit of time to get used to a different kind of holiday. This takes the stress out of trying to find somewhere to stay, late at night and when you may be tired. Make sure you bring an up to date camp site guide with lots of sites in the areas that you are planning to visit.

Avoid bringing rigid suitcases. When you hire a campervan, you have a limited amount of space, so your suitcases can really get in the way!

Do not pack too much! Camping holidays are different to hotel or apartment holidays, you will spend more time enjoying the simpler more natural ways to have fun. This is a time to bring families together.

If you are bringing bicycles, check the vehicle has a bike rack fitted – it’s not practical to add one later. And find out how many bikes the rack will hold. Alternatively use a larger motorhome which has a “garage” type layout, which can house your bikes within the garage area.

Check the campsites you intend to visit are open, do not assume they will be open all year ’round! The reason they close in the winter is because the ground is too soft to support the weight of a campervan. You can find details of all the sites open in the UK in guides like the Caravan Club Site Guide. It is not advisable to simply park in a lay by - some councils forbid this in the UK. In the more remote areas, such as the Scottish Highlands, this is less of a problem.

Camper Van Hire Glastonbury

camper van hire glastonbury

Camper van hire for the Glastonbury Festival turned out to be very popular last year. Most campervan hire companies don’t like music festivals, but Motorholme do not mind. Hiring a campervan for the festival is quite a cool move as it means you have somewhere to keep all your valuables and you can guarantee getting away from the rain if the weather turns nasty. There’s an extra charge for camper vans on top of the ticket price but it is well worth it for the comfort and security.

It is worth noting however that the Glastonbury 2009 tickets are now sold out, the site says “On one of the coldest - and snowiest! - days of the year, Glastonbury Festival is delighted to announce that tickets for this summer’s event have now sold out. Says Emily Eavis: “We’re chuffed to bits that we’ve managed to sell so many tickets so far ahead, especially when you look at the weather outside.

“Thanks to everyone for keeping the faith, it’s certainly shaping up to be another vintage year for Glastonbury Festival, with a brilliant line up to be unveiled in June.”

The Festival launched its acclaimed deposit scheme for the early sale of tickets in October 2008, with the vast majority of festival-goers completing their full payment by the deadline of February 1.

Separate fields to park campervans and caravans are available adjacent to the Festival site - within a couple of hundred yards from the fence.

A campervan/caravan ticket must be purchased in advance to allow access into the campervan/caravan area, and each person entering this area must be a weekend Festival ticket holder.

These designated areas of the site are the only places where ticket holders can sleep in vehicles – and these vehicles will only be allowed in the fields if they have living accommodation with fitted sleeping facilities and either fitted cooking or washing facilities.

There will be a resale of a very limited number of cancelled tickets on April 5. If you are luck enough to have a ticket or are hoping to get one in April then call us on 0800 612 8719 or use this link: Camper Van Hire Glastonbury.

Campervan Hire UK

Campervan Hire UK

So what is a campervan and what is a motorhome? Well as far as we are concrned they are all the same thing. Campervans and motorhomes are vehicles which solve your sleeping, eating and transportation problems in one hit giving you maximum freedom to go where you want, whenever you want and don’t tie you to one place. This is why Campervan Hire UK holidays are now more popular than ever, as people demand more flexibility and variety in their holidays.

Many people think of the term campervan in relation to the classic VW campers such as the ‘type 1′ splittys and the gorgeous ‘type 2′ with their big bay window. In reality I never found these aircooled classics to be quite as reliable as everyone seemed to make out, so these days I am happier with something like a Mazda Bongo or the ultra practical Trigano Tribute 550.

In the past few years Motorholme have rented out hundreds of campervans for events such as Glastonbury Festival, The Silverstone Grand Prix and Cambridge Folk Festival. Rather than have an unsecure tent or some B&B nowhere near where you want to be, the campervan hire option seems to be an increasingly popular alternative.
